Also known by The Jewelled Rockskipper, Lawnmower, or Rock Blenny, the Sailfin/Algae Blenny is a native of the reefs of the Indo-Pacific. Similar to other Blennies, the Sailfin/Algae is able to rest on live rocks or hide in caves move across the substrate, and eat microalgae. It, therefore, requires more of a system, with an array of living rock as well as rockwork.

The Sailfin/Algae Blenny is calm with other marine fishes unless the tank mate has a similar appearance or shape to the Blenny. It is preferential to keep the Sailfin/Algae Blenny as a single unless placed in a larger tank as a mated pair. It is known to nibble at small-polyped coral and mantles of clams.

It is believed that the Sailfin/Algae Blenny does best in tanks that are well-established and have plenty of algae that they can consume. The diet can be supplemented by vegetable matter, spirulina, and herbivore-based preparations.
