The male dominant in this species is brighter colored when compared with the female or sub-dominant male. Females and sub-dominant males of this species is characterized by multiple blue horizontal lines running across the body and head, which split into spots as they move toward the tail. Females/sub-dominant males will transform into a dominant male when integrated into an aquarium and is the sole fish of the species. They are among the most beautiful fish of their family and they are sought-after by avid enthusiasts. The Lineatus Fairy Wrasse an extremely calm, active fish that brings both activity and color to a reef or fish-only aquarium that is 90 gallons or more.
