This Niger Trigger or Redtooth Trigger is a striking fish to add to your home aquarium. The exact hue of the Niger Triggerfish varies in this species of fish. It it can shift from day to night between blue, purple and blue/green, with an appealing lighter blue highlight on the fins and the long tail lobes. The temperature of the lighting can also play a part in the coloring of any fish that is in the aquarium in the home. As they grow older they develop bright red teeth and usually dark purple with a blue/green coloration on their faces, making them fascinating to watch while eating. It requires a 180 gallon or bigger home aquarium, with caves and rocks for hiding. It can also alter the rocks and landscaping. The fish makes a "grunting" sound. They're a fantastic active fish for an intense, only fish display. It needs a varied diet that includes meaty food items such as Krill, squid small fish, clams, and shrimp that have hard shells to wear down their ever-growing teeth.
