Unicorn Tang Fiji

The Bluespine Unicorn Tang, also known as the Unicorn Tang or Unicornfish, features a blue-green to olive body with a subtle blue edge along the dorsal and anal fins. In addition, two bright blue dots appear near the peduncle spines at the base of the tail, giving this species a distinct and recognizable look.

As the Bluespine Unicorn Tang grows, the small horn that gives it its name begins to develop. Typically, this becomes noticeable once the fish reaches around 6 inches in size. The horn sits farther back on the head and does not extend beyond the tip of the snout. Additionally, this species has large, permanently erect peduncle spines, which can become tangled in nets or cause injury if handled improperly.

Due to its size and active swimming behavior, a 360-gallon or larger aquarium is recommended. This provides enough open space for movement while also offering areas to retreat. Although it can be aggressive toward its own species, it generally remains peaceful when housed with other non-competing fish.
