Pacific Pygmy Angelfish - Centropyge flavicauda

The Cherub Angelfish, the most well-known and smallest of the dwarf and Pygmy Angelfish, is ideally suited for smaller aquariums. It shares the aggressiveness of its cousins, so it's advisable to keep only one per tank. While it generally does not nip at coral or clam mantles, caution is advised when adding it to a reef tank due to its Centropyge nature. Males and females can coexist, with good chances of reproduction; size is the sole indicator of sexuality, with males being larger. Ensure only one male per tank to prevent fatal fights.

Pacific Pygmy Angelfish Diet

They readily consume most prepared and frozen food items. Feeding frozen mysis shrimp and Spirulina algae is recommended, especially in less established aquariums hosting the Cherub Angelfish.

Tank Requirements for the Pacific Pygmy Angelfish

    • Recommend a tank of 55 gallons or larger.

    • Provide numerous hiding places and live rock for grazing on microalgae.

    • Avoid nipping large-polyped stony corals and clam mantles.

Behavior and Tank Compatibility

    • This angelfish exhibits aggression; it's advisable to keep only one male per tank to prevent fatal fights.

    • Breeding pairs can successfully cohabit in larger setups.
