Achilles Tang is very dark brown to purple. It is brightly highlighted with orange and white around the caudal, dorsal, and anal fins. The white marking is found on the covers of the gills as well as a striking orange teardrop can be seen close to the fin that is caudal. The juveniles of this species bear an orange mark on the tail, which is in the shape of a streak, instead of being teardrop-shaped. An enormous aquarium is essential to give ample space for swimming, and these fish require a high water flow since they typically live within surge zones. They can be aggressive to the other Tangs and Surgeonfish, however, calm with other species of fish.
