Aquacultured frags offer a responsible way to add new corals to your reef. Marine culturists propagate each frag in a controlled aquarium environment. They also mount the corals on frag plugs for easier placement within your rockwork.

Easier Acclimation and Inspection

Wild-collected corals can experience stress during collection and transportation. In contrast, cultured corals are already familiar with artificial lighting, prepared foods, and aquarium water flow.

However, you should still inspect and dip every new coral before adding it to your display. This precaution helps reduce the risk of introducing flatworms, nudibranchs, algae, and other unwanted hitchhikers.

Vibrant Color and Healthy Growth

Stable LED or T5 lighting can help cultured corals develop vibrant pigmentation and steady tissue growth. Many aquacultured frags also adjust well to established reef conditions.

Choosing a 25 or 50-Piece Coral Frag Pack

An assorted frag pack helps you add color and texture throughout multiple areas of your aquascape. You can place different coral types according to their lighting, flow, and spacing requirements.

What to Expect in Your Coral Assortment

• Soft Corals and Zoanthids: These resilient frags add bright color and gentle movement to low- or moderate-flow areas.
• LPS Corals: Acans, Blastomussa, Favites, and similar varieties provide fleshy polyps, bold textures, and interesting feeding responses.
• SPS Corals: Branching and encrusting varieties add structure to mature reef displays. Most SPS corals prefer stronger flow and moderate-to-high lighting.

Acclimating Your New Coral Frags

Inspect and dip every frag before placing it in your aquarium. Next, begin with a lower-light position to reduce stress. Gradually move each coral toward its intended placement as it adjusts.

Increase light exposure slowly over one to two weeks. In addition, provide suitable water flow and enough space between neighboring corals. Careful placement supports healthy polyp extension, color retention, and long-term growth.
