Red-Bar Anthias span a vast area of coverage of habitats, from to the Pacific up to Indian Ocean from East Africa up and all the way to Samoa, Japan and Australia. The Red-Bar Fairy Anthias usually reside in the middle of the areas of the tanks however, they also require caves, ledges and other places to hide. They can grow up 4 inches. Though a tank that is 70-gallon can be sufficient for one fish, when you have a group consisting of a single male and a few females, a larger 125-gallon or more is recommended. The Anthias species have the characteristic of being hermaphroditic. If the dominant male dies the biggest female of the group may change to replace it. After settling into a fresh aquarium Anthias thrive when provided with a diverse diet consisting of frozen mysis shrimp brine shrimp that are enriched and frozen. Over time they can eat premium flake food that is available in small amounts throughout the day. A refugium that is attached to the tank and cultivates amphipods and copepods will provide an ongoing supply of healthy live food that will keep active planktivore levels.   Approximate Purchase Size: Small: 3/4" to 1-1/4", Medium: 1-1/4" to 2"
