Ignitus Anthias

The Ignitus Anthias from the Maldives is also known as the Flame Anthias. Gorgeous shades of vibrant reds, strong oranges and bright yellows of the Ignitus anthias bring color and life to the reef aquarium, also known as FOWLR. This Ignitus Anthias is a reef living of the wild. It is a shallow-water species that thrives within a 125-gallon tank with a male and as many as ten females. When kept in separate, 70 gallon tanks are sufficient. Anthias species share the feature that they are hermaphroditic. When a dominant male dies the biggest female in the group is likely to change to replace it. In courtship, the color of the male's Ignitus Anthias is intensified and the dorsal fin is bright red and is held upright manner. Once they have adapted to the fresh aquarium, the anthias perform optimally when given a variety of diet consisting of frozen mysis shrimp and brine shrimp enriched in brine and eventually, they will eat high quality flake food in small amounts throughout the daytime. A separate refugium for the cultivation of amphipods and copepods will provide regular supply of nutritious living food to maintain the active planktivore levels.
