Blue Spotted Puffer may also be referred to as the Blue Dot Toby or Blue Dot Sharp-Nosed Puffer. The members of the Canthigaster Genus are known as sharp-nosed Puffers also known as Tobies. Blue Spotted Puffer Canthigaster solandri and the Papuan Toby Puffer Canthigaster papua share similar features. The absence of orange coloration in the area around the mouths of Blue Spotted Puffer Canthigaster solandri is the main difference between these two puffers. This Blue Spotted Puffer lacks pelvic fins, however, it has been taught to use the pectoral fins for moving around the aquarium.
A 50-gallon or greater aquarium that is exclusively for fish is ideal. The teeth of this fish actually form the result of a fused beak structure. It could eat invertebrates within a reef aquarium. It gets scared when placed inside a net. Hence it is recommended to use a container to move it.

The Blue Spot Puffer, Canthigaster papau is often referred to by the name of Hawaiian Blue Puffer or the Blue Spotted Sharpnose, has an enthralling personality. It is a fantastic fish to keep in a tank that is exclusively for fish. The body of the fish is covered with striking blue dots. It's sexually dimorphic, which means males have prominent points on the middle of the back and above the position of the gill's opening - something females don't have. It releases an toxin, known as tetradotoxin. It's found within the skin and the viscera that render them unappealing to the majority of fish. It is quick to adapt to the aquarium environment and requires plenty of hiding spots that include crevices and rocks.
