Blue Mandarins that have been captive-bred possess a distinct advantage over the wild caught species. They are stronger and more at ease with conditions in aquariums at home. They are an excellent choice for beginners and experienced aquarists. Biota Captive-Bred Blue Mandarins sometimes referred to as Mandarin Dragonettes or Mandarin Gobies are stunning fish loved by aquarists due to their unique beauty. Blue Mandarins offer a stunning visual display of gorgeous jewel-tone colors like Amber Orange, cobalt Blue and emerald-green in intricate patterns that resemble mazes. Their wild movements and fascinating personality add to their appeal and provide an endless amount of entertainment. Blue Mandarins are best maintained in an established, 30 gallon or larger home aquarium that has live rock, live sand, and lots of hiding spots. They can tolerate moderately harsh conditions in reef aquariums, provided they are provided with the highest level of attention. They aren't overly hostile towards other fish, other than their own species. Male Blue Mandarin is easily distinguished from females by its prominent, elongated, and pronounced first spine on its dorsal side. In the wild Blue Mandarins are micro predators who actively hunt amphipods and copepods.
